Bell Sets New 600-Meter Record at Vanderbilt

Murray State track and field kicked off day one at Music City Indoor Challenge. Kayla Bell retakes the spotlight by winning the 600-meter and breaking the school’s 33-year-old record with a time of 1:29.89.

Stephanie Saleem set the previous record (1:31.60) in 1990.

“Kayla ran a great race and smashed the school record which should give her confidence going into tomorrow in the 800-meter,” said head coach Adam Kiesler.

The Racers came close to personal records as they move closer to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

“There were a lot of performances where we see bright things ahead and at this time of the year, that’s what we are looking for,” said Kiesler.
