Murray State University basketball player Brayden Shorter has been named to the 2025-26 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) All-Scholar Team, according to an announcement from the league office in St. Louis.

Shorter, who is from Springfield, Missouri, joined the Racers for his junior season and currently holds a 3.50 GPA while pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing at Murray State University.

This season, Shorter has scored in double figures six times. His highest-scoring game was a 17-point performance during Murray State’s home win against Valparaiso on January 10. In that game, he also made five three-point baskets, which was his season high. Shorter has played in all 31 games this season, averaging 5.8 points and 14.5 minutes per game.

Shorter and the Racers are scheduled to play UIC on Friday at 2:30 p.m. during the State Farm Arch Madness tournament at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

The MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selection process uses criteria similar to those of College Sports Communicators for Academic All-America nominations. “To be nominated, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, where applicable,” according to the release. “If a GPA has not been established as a transfer student, the cumulative GPA from the nominees’ previous institution must be used.” Nominees must be at least sophomores academically and athletically; redshirt freshmen are not eligible. Eligible athletes must participate in at least 75 percent of regular-season games or start at least half of their team’s games.
