The Murray State University Department of Music will hold two piano recitals during the first weekend of March.

On Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m., faculty members Meeyoun Park and Matthew Gianforte will perform a recital featuring works from the piano duo repertoire. Their program includes pieces by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Samuel Barber, and Maurice Ravel. According to the department, “Celebrated for their expressive depth and technical brilliance, Park and Gianforte will play works by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Samuel Barber and Maurice Ravel, in a program that spans the poetic, the virtuosic and the boldly orchestral.”

A second recital is scheduled for Sunday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m., when guest artist Gregory Sioles will present a solo program. The performance will include music by Muzio Clementi, Luciano Berio, Frédéric Chopin, and Modest Mussorgsky. The university notes that “Praised for his passionate, stylish, and insightful performances, Sioles has performed on three continents in some of the most important venues in the world. He has served on the piano faculty at Indiana University and Louisiana State University.”

Both events are free to attend and open to all members of the public. They will take place in the Performing Arts Hall located in the Old Fine Arts Building on Murray State’s campus.
