Murray State University’s College of Education and Human Services will hold the 41st annual Harry M. Sparks Distinguished Lecture Series on April 28. The event will feature Dr. Kerry Magro as the keynote speaker. Magro is known for his work as a professional speaker, author, and consultant for Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum U.S.” Diagnosed with autism at age four after being nonverbal until two and a half, Magro has become an advocate for autism awareness and inclusion.

Dr. David Whaley, dean of the College of Education and Human Services, commented on the importance of the lecture series and this year’s speaker. “The Harry M. Sparks Distinguished Lecture Series is one of our college’s most meaningful traditions, as it brings together education, advocacy and community,” Whaley said. “Dr. Magro’s journey and work as an advocate for autism awareness and inclusion reflect the values we strive to instill in our students. We are honored to welcome him to campus and to recognize outstanding educators whose daily work makes a lasting impact.”

The event will also include recognition of recipients of the Outstanding Educator Awards. The lecture is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Alexander Hall auditorium, Room 240, followed by a complimentary dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Alexander Hall atrium.

Those interested in attending can RSVP online or by email by April 17.
