Murray State women’s basketball finishes regular season with decisive win over Valparaiso

Sharnecce Currie-Jelks led Murray State to a 100-68 win over Valparaiso on Saturday, recording her 24th double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The game took place at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Murray State, now holding a 28-3 overall record and a 19-1 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), pulled away from Valparaiso with a strong third quarter, scoring 32 points. Four Racers finished in double figures. Haven Ford scored 20 points, including four three-pointers. Halli Poock added 18 points and led all players with nine assists. Keslyn Secrist contributed 12 points.

The Racers controlled rebounding throughout the game, finishing with a 54-40 advantage on the boards. They also scored 27 fast-break points.

By halftime, Murray State had built a substantial lead at 55-28 and maintained control for the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 40 points late in the game.

With this victory, Murray State concludes its MVC regular season at 19-1 and will enter next week’s MVC Tournament as the top seed. Their first tournament game is scheduled for Friday, March 13 at noon Central Time in Coralville, Iowa.
