Paddle Skills Day Set For September 9 And 10

Are you interested in kayaking but not ready to experience open water? The Paddle Skills Day is the perfect way to test your interest in kayaking in the comfort and safety of the Calvert City Golf & Country Club swimming pool. This event is in partnership with Calvert City and the Tennessee RiverLine.

Calvert City was selected as a Tennessee RiverTown in 2021. As part of the qualifications, the city is required to host paddling events and stewardship events throughout the year promoting engagement with the Tennessee River.

THE TENNESSEE RIVERLINE SEEKS TO:

reestablish upriver and downriver relationships

reconnect people and communities in the Tennessee River Valley by initiating regional and watershed-wide partnerships

reclaiming the river’s edge across urbanized, rural, and natural landscapes to provide for an unprecedented level of public access

Join us on September 9 or 10 at Calvert City Golf and Country Club from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event will teach the basic skills of paddling and provide kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and instruction. Please plan accordingly when choosing your attire. You will get wet. This event is free and open to the public. Children and adults are welcome to participate, however, children must be accompanied by an adult.

“Our goal is to get people on kayaks who might not have a chance to kayak. This is a great opportunity to experience kayaking without the fear of open water,” said Blair Travis, director of marketing and business development for Calvert City. “I hope that those attending love it so much they want to attend our KY Dam Paddle Up event on October 8,” she followed.
