Racers Break To The Front at Ozarks National Invitational

The Murray State women’s golf team carded their best score of the fall season Tuesday with a 291 at the Ozarks National Invitational in Hollister, Missouri.

The 291 allowed the Racers to vault from fifth place to first with the final 18 holes to be played Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT at Ozarks National Golf Club.

The Racers stand at the top on scores of 306-291=597, with a two-shot lead on Toledo (599). The rest of the top-5 included South Dakota (606), Wichita State (608) and Omaha (609). The Racers lead Missouri Valley Conference colleagues Drake (614), Missouri State (615), UNI (619), Indiana State (628) and Bradley (631).

Payton Carter’s scores of 75-72=147 meant she shares third place with teammate Kaitlyn Zieba who had scores of 76-71=147. Ana Picchi was in 14th position after rounds of 76-76=152, while Eliza Mae Kho was in 18th place on scores of 79-74=153. McKenna Stahl had a spot in 32nd place on scores of 82-74=156.

Playing as a solo player, Alma Garcia, continued her top event as a Racer with a spot in sixth place on rounds of 74-75=149.
