CITY OF PADUCAH: Registration Underway for 8th Annual Combined Conference for Fire Service, Electrical, and Building Professionals

Register

City of Paducah issued the following announcement on Sept. 18

The Paducah Fire Prevention Division is hosting the 8th Annual Combined Conference for Fire Service, Electrical, and Building Professionals on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.  The FREE conference is available to anyone in the electrical, building, construction, design, social services, or firefighting professions.  The conference will be at the Julian Carroll Convention Center at 415 Park Avenue.  Participation in the classes can provide attendees with continuing education credits for the State of Kentucky.

The schedule of classes and registration form are on the City of Paducah website at www.paducahky.gov/annual-conference-information.  The registration form includes information about lodging and a hospitality event organized by IAFF Local 168.  The deadline to register is Friday, October 18.

Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention Greg Cherry says, “I first have to say thank you to the dozens of sponsors and vendors who support this conference and allow the Paducah Fire Department to provide an event that is free for attendees.  But I’m also so proud of the Paducah Fire Department for taking the reins eight years ago to develop a conference that is beneficial to a variety of interrelated professions.  Instead of being placed into separate silos, we are bringing together at one conference firefighters, code enforcement officials, building inspectors, construction and design professionals, and social service experts.”

Deputy Fire Marshal April Tinsman helps coordinate the conference.  Tinsman says, “Immediately after last year’s conference, I started working on the plans for this year’s event.  We listen to feedback from the attendees and strive to provide an experience that provides an amazing educational opportunity in addition to plenty of networking.  There are so many discussions throughout these two days about the latest tools and technology, code interpretations, and leadership skills.  We learn from each other by sharing our experiences. Plus, we are able to bring to Paducah some of the most well-respected and knowledgeable instructors in these fields.”

In 2018, 315 participants attended the conference.

If you have a question about the conference, contact Deputy Fire Marshal April Tinsman at atinsman@paducahky.gov or 270-444-8527.
