City of Paducah issued the following announcement.
The Paducah Civic Beautification Board and Paducah Power System (PPS) are partnering to encourage the community to light your flowering trees and plants for this year's Dogwood Trail Celebration. On Saturday, March 21, stop by PPS at 1500 Broadway from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to purchase a landscape light/spotlight for $20 (cash only please). Members of the Civic Beautification Board will be there to provide information on effectively lighting trees and plants. Plus, they will be able to answer questions about this year's Dogwood Trail celebration, the 56th annual event.
Also, during the entire month of March, the Civic Beautification Board has partnered with local nurseries that are providing 25 percent off the purchase of dogwood trees. Participating nurseries include Bloom N' Gardens, Edwards Nursery, James Sanders Nursery, and Wahl's Landscape and Garden Shoppe.
The theme of this year's Dogwood Trail Celebration is Pick Up and Plant Paducah which encourages citizens to plant new dogwoods and other plantings and to work to clean up the city by collecting any garbage that has blown into yards or right-of-way areas.
It's a little too early to determine exactly when the dogwoods will bloom, but the currently thought is that they will bloom in about three weeks
