ViWinTech Moving Forward on Demolition of Building of 2301 Irvin Cobb Drive

Mayor George Bray has learned that ViWinTech® Windows & Doors is moving forward with the demolition of the building at 2301 Irvin Cobb Drive, the former Residential Care Center, in order to grow ViWinTech’s Paducah operations. ViWinTech ownership purchased this prominent piece of property on Paducah’s Southside earlier this year.

Demolition of the former Residential Care Center, which has been closed to the public since 2007, is expected to begin later this week or the beginning of next week.

Mayor Bray said, “For many years the citizens of Paducah have wanted the old and dilapidated building on Paducah’s Southside removed. The city was able to gain a commitment from VinWinTech to choose this site as the perfect location to expand its footprint and grow its operations. As we partner with more private companies willing to establish and deepen their roots in the Southside, we will see long-term benefits.  I am proud to partner with ViWinTech in this endeavor, and I know all of Paducah is excited to see a new future for this property.”

ViWinTech President Evan Rittgers said, “We are excited for the demolition to begin, as it is the first step in our future growth plans.  But, more importantly, it is a win for Paducah, and we thank the city for its support and partnership.”

In September, the City approved an agreement with ViWinTech for an economic development incentive, linked to the creation of new jobs, of up to $172,000 to assist with the demolition costs.  ViWinTech has received financial support from the Kentucky Economic Cabinet to expand its facility and employee base with an agreement to employ 40 new full-time employees by 2026.

ViWinTech currently employs approximately 330 employees at its facility across the street at 2400 Irvin Cobb Drive with many of the employees residing within Paducah’s city limits.

ViWinTech offers high quality, energy efficient vinyl window and door solutions for new construction and renovation projects. The company had its beginnings in 1952 when Pete Brown began selling mini blinds out of the back of his station wagon. Brown grew his shop-on-wheels into AlumaKraft, which specialized in distributing aluminum construction products.  In the 1980s, the business moved into distributing vinyl construction products and then into the manufacturing of specialty construction products.  In 1998, the company took up the name ViWinTech Windows & Doors.  Today, VinWinTech operates out of a 160,000 square foot plant on Paducah’s Southside with a distribution market across the South and Midwest.  Learn more by visiting ViWinTech.
