U.S. 51/KY 121 Traffic Signal in Wickliffe to Be Placed in Flashing Mode Week of January 30

Intersection to be studied for possible conversion to 4-Way Stop

PADUCAH, Ky. (Jan. 26, 2023) –  A traffic signal at the U.S. 51/KY 121 intersection in Wickliffe will be placed in red flashing mode starting at 7 a.m., CST, on Monday, January 30, 2023.

The signal will remain in flashing mode until 7 p.m., CST, on Friday, February 3.

The signal, at the intersection of U.S. 51/Fourth Street/Jefferson Hill Road and KY 121/Court Street in downtown Wickliffe, is being placed in red flashing mode and will function as a 4-Way Stop.

Traffic flow will be monitored at various times of the day to determine if the intersection could be permanently converted to a 4-Way Stop.

The signal is at U.S. 51 Ballard County mile point 3.376 and KY 121 mile point 8.689.

Approximately 4,700 vehicles travel through the intersection in an average day.

Once the week-long study of the intersection is completed, traffic engineers from the District 1 Traffic Group and the KYTC central office traffic staff will comb through data to determine the potential impact on traffic in downtown Wickliffe.

Traffic engineers say processing the information could take a couple of weeks or more.
