Attention: Important Mayfield Cemetery Upkeep Info
With the summer mowing season just around the corner, the city request that all individuals please remove all flowers or other objects from Highland Park, Maplewood, and Oak Rest cemeteries. All citizens are asked to place flowers or other objects only on the monument from APRIL 1 to NOVEMBER 30. Please do not place flowers or objects on the ground because this creates a problem for the mowing crews.
Beginning APRIL 1, the city will begin the pick-up of any flowers or objects that are not directly on the monuments. These items will be stored for a short period, but to ensure that your items are not lost, the city asks that you remove these items before the crews do. Over the winter there have been many items placed on some of the grave spaces such as: night lights, benches, and concrete plaques. All these items can be easily damaged during mowing season. The cemetery crews do their best to keep from damaging any objects in the cemeteries, but the city cannot be responsible for any items that are not placed in accordance with Sec 5-11, 5-13 and 5-14 of the city ordinances.
If you have any questions concerning whether your object falls in this category, please feel free to contact Russell Brower at 270-247-0067. Thank you for you cooperation in making the upkeep of the cemeteries easier for the mowing crews.
