Racers Earn Victory on Senior Day
Murray State baseball put together another impressive victory on Saturday with an 11-4 win over Southern Indiana at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Big innings in the first and sixth frames and strong bullpen pitching highlighted the Racers day in the win.
MSU leadoff man Cade Sammons continued his hot streak at the plate, gathering two hits and two runs scored against the Screaming Eagles. One of the three seniors that were honored on the day, Seth Gardner had an impressive day at the plate picking up four RBIs for a second consecutive day to go with two hits including a triple.
Logan Bland kept his strong showing at the plate going with a two-RBI single in the matchup to bring his season total to 14 while having a .302 batting average.
The bullpen duo of Thomas McNabb and Matt Boynton overwhelmed USI hitters on the day, combining for 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing just two combined hits. McNabb earned the win to move to 3-0 on the year while striking out four against Southern Indiana.
Prior to the game, Coach Dan Skirka and Murray State Athletics honored three seniors in Gardner, Brennan McCullough and Ben Krizen for their contributions to Murray State baseball.Murray State goes for the series sweep against USI on Sunday at 1 p.m.
