U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell criticized President Biden's judicial nominations in a recent speech on the Senate floor. McConnell expressed concern over the qualifications and conduct of some of the nominees, including Adeel Mangi, the President's nominee for Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mangi, a Harvard Law graduate with a career in private practice, has also served on the board of a Rutgers student organization that has been involved in anti-Semitic activism. McConnell highlighted the organization's hosting of speaking engagements for individuals associated with calls for an intifada in the United States and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
McConnell emphasized the seriousness of this issue, particularly in a time when American Jews are facing a significant increase in anti-Semitic hate. He questioned whether it is appropriate for the Biden Administration to nominate someone with an extensive record of condoning terrorist propaganda to a position with life tenure on the court of appeals.
McConnell urged the Judiciary Committee to thoroughly examine Mangi's nomination and ultimately reject it.
The Biden Administration has yet to respond to McConnell's remarks.
