WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has issued a strong statement in response to the recent strikes by Iran on Israel. McConnell emphasized the importance of the United States standing with Israel during this challenging time.

McConnell stated, “In the face of Iran’s significant military strikes on Israel, the United States must stand with our ally as Israel’s national unity government takes necessary measures to defend its people and its sovereignty.”

He further called on President Biden to take action, saying, “President Biden must lead an international effort to impose sufficient costs on Tehran to compel an end to its aggression and terror, both on Israeli soil and around the region.”

The Senator also stressed the need for unity and support for Israel in dealing with threats from groups like Hamas, stating, “The President must also give Israel the time, space, and support it deserves to finish the job against Hamas. Tehran and its proxies are emboldened when they see divisions between the US and Israel.”

McConnell highlighted the role of Congress in providing critical resources and support, urging action on a national security supplemental that would benefit not only Israel but also other key allies and partners. He emphasized the importance of investing in American strength to deter conflict and protect national security.

He concluded by warning of the consequences of inaction, stating, “The consequences of failure are clear, devastating, and avoidable.”
