WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) addressed the Senate floor today concerning the Democratic nomination for president.
"Fortunately, a despicable act of political violence failed. But just two days ago, a different decision succeeded in erasing the will of millions of American voters," McConnell stated.
He continued by criticizing leading Washington Democrats for influencing President Biden to disregard primary results and leaving the nomination uncertain while party leaders select another candidate.
"One thing is for certain: if they formally nominate President Biden’s preferred successor, the choice facing working Americans will remain the same," he remarked.
McConnell directed specific criticism at Vice President Harris, stating that she "owns this Administration’s record." He added, "Her fingerprints are all over the past four years of failure."
The Senate Republican Leader accused Harris of supporting radical judicial nominees and soft-on-crime prosecutors through tie-breaking votes. He also criticized her handling of spending policies and her role as the Administration’s 'border czar,' attributing to her what he described as "the worst border crisis in American history."
"The American people cannot afford four more years of open borders, violent crime, or historic inflation," McConnell concluded. "In November, they may well reject it."
