U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has marked the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Israel with a statement reaffirming support for the country. In his message, McConnell emphasized that the pain from last year's events remains and highlighted the ongoing threat posed by Iran-backed terrorism.

"Time has not dulled the pain inflicted on the people of Israel one year ago today, nor eased the grief left in its wake," he stated. McConnell noted that these attacks revealed "the irredeemable evil of Iran-backed terror" and brought to light persistent anti-Semitism.

He praised Israel's resilience over the past year, saying, "The Jewish state has met a year of trial with unshakeable resolve." He also acknowledged Jewish communities worldwide who have refused to succumb to fear despite resurgent anti-Semitism.

McConnell drew attention to what he sees as a clear distinction between Israel's response and those responsible for violence. "Israel’s determined response...casts in stark relief the difference between a sovereign democracy’s effort to minimize innocent suffering and savage terrorists’ effort to exploit it."

He reiterated that supporting Israel is crucial not only for regional peace but also for maintaining global order. "The stakes of Israel’s fight against the terrorists surrounding it are as clear today as they were one year ago," McConnell said, underscoring that free societies must stand firm against threats from groups like Hamas, Hizballah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, or the Houthis.

Concluding his statement, McConnell called on Americans and allies worldwide to remember those affected by last year's attacks and renew their commitment to supporting Israel. "Let us recommit to stand with Israel in its righteous fight."
