U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has expressed his condolences following the death of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States. In a statement, McConnell highlighted Carter's journey from a peanut farmer in Georgia to becoming the leader of the nation.

"Elaine and I join the Senate and the nation in mourning the passing of our 39th president, Jimmy Carter," McConnell stated.

He described Carter's life as an embodiment of "a truly American dream," noting his service in uniform on submarines before entering public service. McConnell emphasized Carter's character and commitment as being rooted in "all-American soil."

Carter served during challenging times both domestically and internationally. Despite these challenges, McConnell noted that "his calm spirit and deep faith seemed unshakeable." He also recognized Carter's long-term dedication as a Sunday school teacher at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.

"As Jimmy Carter is reunited with his beloved Rosalynn, our thoughts and prayers are with their children, Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren," said McConnell. He concluded by acknowledging the impact Carter had on millions of Americans.
