U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has met with Jamieson Greer, the nominee for U.S. Trade Representative under President-elect Trump. Following the meeting, McConnell released a statement highlighting the importance of free and fair trade and the protection of critical supply chains for America's security and prosperity.

In his statement, McConnell noted that many jobs in Kentucky's major industries, such as auto manufacturing and bourbon production, depend heavily on the export economy. He expressed anticipation about collaborating with Greer to improve conditions for American workers and counteract unfair trade practices from countries like China.

McConnell said, “I enjoyed meeting President-elect Trump’s nominee to serve as the next U.S. Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer. Preserving free and fair trade and protecting critical supply chains are essential to America’s security and prosperity. In Kentucky alone, many thousands of jobs in our biggest industries – auto manufacturing and bourbon production – rely on America’s export economy. I look forward to working with Mr. Greer to upgrade the playing field for American workers and to push back on China and other countries that engage in unfair trade practices.”
