U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell expressed his support for the confirmation of John Ratcliffe as the new Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. McConnell highlighted the importance of this role in addressing national security challenges.
"Today, I was proud to support the confirmation of John Ratcliffe as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency," McConnell stated. He emphasized that with growing threats to U.S. interests, decisions regarding national security will heavily rely on the CIA's ability to provide timely and accurate foreign intelligence without political influence.
McConnell expressed confidence in Ratcliffe's capability and commitment to lead CIA professionals effectively against significant national security issues facing America. "I am encouraged by Mr. Ratcliffe’s experience and determination to lead CIA professionals in confronting the most significant national security challenges facing America," he added.
Furthermore, McConnell noted that Congress would need to allocate resources appropriately for these efforts. He also mentioned his anticipation of collaborating with Director Ratcliffe from his position on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee to ensure America's enemies are kept at bay and critical interests are secured globally.
