U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell expressed his support for the March for Life and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in a statement released today. The annual March for Life event brings together thousands of pro-life advocates to Washington, D.C., aiming to promote their cause.
McConnell emphasized the longstanding nature of this movement, stating, "For over half a century, this movement has united people across all ages, faiths, and backgrounds." He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting pro-life legislation in the Senate and highlighted his 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee.
This week, McConnell voted in favor of legislation intended to protect infants who survive abortions. He remarked on the bipartisan nature of defending a child's life by saying, "Kentuckians agree that defending a child’s life – as the law states – shouldn’t be a partisan issue." However, he noted that Democrats blocked the passage of this legislation.
Welcoming participants at this year's March for Life event, McConnell particularly acknowledged those from Kentucky. He encouraged their advocacy efforts with these words: "Washington needs your example of advocacy more than ever as we work to protect this most basic human right."
