U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell expressed his support following the confirmation of Linda McMahon as the U.S. Secretary of Education. In a statement, McConnell highlighted concerns about declining student achievement and criticized current education policies.
McConnell emphasized the need for leadership that prioritizes local community involvement over federal oversight in shaping educational practices. He expressed confidence in McMahon's ability to address these issues and implement reforms aimed at benefiting students.
“Years of steady decline in student achievement make one thing abundantly clear: our education policies are failing America’s children," McConnell stated. "We need leadership at the Education Department that will check politics at the door and empower local communities, not federal bureaucrats, to shape their children’s education."
He further added, “I’m confident the President’s Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, will take an honest look at our education establishment and implement reforms that put the interests of students first.”
