Census Bureau: 2.9% of people in Carlisle County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 4,821 citizens living in Carlisle County in 2021, 97.1% said they were only one race, while 2.9% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Carlisle County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 94.9% or 4,573 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 0.8% and totaled 39 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Carlisle County is 0.6% lower than the state average, which stands at 3.5%.
