U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) criticized the Biden Administration's handling of the southern border crisis, stating that illegal crossings are setting all-time records. McConnell pointed out that in just three years under the Biden Administration, there have been six million border encounters. Despite these alarming statistics, the Secretary of Homeland Security and the White House Press Secretary continue to claim that their approach is working.

McConnell highlighted the reality of the situation, stating, "Of course, we know that's exactly how it works. The border patrol has been tracking 1,000 known gotaways per day!" He emphasized that the Biden Administration's handling of the border crisis is a complete and utter failure.

Senator Cruz and Senator Barrasso shared an encounter they witnessed on the border, describing the terror on a 10-year-old girl's face as a man attempted to exploit the Biden Administration's family-unit loophole. Senator Cruz stated, "The cartels are renting children to grown men." McConnell pointed out that the crisis unfolding at the border is not only inhumane but also a national security vulnerability, as Fiscal Year 2022 was the deadliest year on record at the southern border.

McConnell emphasized that the solution to the border crisis lies in clear and commonsense policies that enforce the law and treat the border with the necessary legal consequences. He expressed gratitude towards his Republican colleagues who are working on a policy proposal for actual border security, drawing on ideas from Senators Lankford, Cruz, Grassley, and others.

In contrast, McConnell criticized the Democrats' approach, stating that their border security approach is not working. He dismissed President Biden's Border Supplemental request for more funding, stating that it is just more of the same. McConnell urged Washington Democrats to wake up and embrace policy changes that will prioritize the safety of Americans.

The article highlights the divide between Democrats and Republicans regarding the border crisis. While Democrats are focusing on providing additional funding to make it easier and faster to process illegal migrants, Republicans are advocating for clear and commonsense policies that enforce the law and prioritize national security.
