U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Congressman Hal Rogers (KY-05) have proposed legislation to rename the United States Courthouse Annex in London, Kentucky as the “Eugene E. Siler, Jr. United States Courthouse Annex”. Judge Siler has served nearly five decades on the federal bench, having been nominated by three U.S. Presidents - Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush - to the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Born in Williamsburg, Kentucky, Judge Siler has devoted his professional life to serving Eastern Kentucky. He has built a reputation as an esteemed jurist and trusted source for legal advice both locally and internationally. In 2016, he was recognized as the Leadership Tri-County Leader of the Year for his contributions to Kentucky.
“For almost five decades, Judge Siler has served on the federal judiciary and has had a massive impact on his community, both on and off the bench," said Senator Mitch McConnell. "Today, it is my privilege to introduce legislation along with Congressman Rogers, designating the U.S. Courthouse Annex in London, Kentucky, in honor of this accomplished Kentuckian.”
“The Siler family legacy of public service is highly regarded in southern Kentucky," said Congressman Hal Rogers. "Judge Siler’s trusted leadership on the federal bench has garnered recognition from three U.S. Presidents."
City of Corbin Mayor Suzie Razmus praised Judge Siler's dedication to service while Whitley County Judge-Executive Pat White Jr expressed gratitude towards Senator McConnell and Congressman Rogers for recognizing such an outstanding member of their community.
