U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell criticized the Biden administration's regulatory state, particularly focusing on the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) new rule that expands the legal definition of an employer-employee relationship. McConnell argued that this rule would burden small business owners in a franchise setting and increase costs for small businesses, national franchisors, and consumers. He also claimed that it would give more power to the left-leaning labor unions and force national companies to choose between supporting small business-owning franchisees or facing greater liability for individual branches. McConnell labeled this policy as "bad" and attributed it to President Biden's pro-union stance.

McConnell further criticized the Biden administration's energy policies, stating that the cancellation of offshore oil and gas lease sales and restrictions on developing America's energy reserves have resulted in higher costs for working families. He highlighted that U.S. oil production has fallen below predictions and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is at its lowest level in 40 years due to the administration's short-sightedness. McConnell argued that these energy regulations have led to increased grocery prices, home heating costs, and burdensome regulations on household appliances and lighting.

In addition, McConnell expressed his concerns about President Biden's recent appointment of Laura Daniel-Davis as Acting Deputy Secretary of the Interior, stating that her extreme record on curbing oil and gas leasing made her unfit for the position. He criticized President Biden for handing over his energy policy to the far left, which, according to McConnell, has negatively impacted working Americans who are already dealing with inflation and rising crime.

Overall, McConnell criticized the Biden administration's overregulation, arguing that it is creating headaches for small businesses and working families. He emphasized the detrimental effects of the NLRB's new rule, the energy regulations, and the appointment of officials with extreme records. McConnell concluded that working Americans do not need more red tape from Washington Democrats.
