U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) addressed the issue of anti-Semitism on the Senate floor, highlighting the alarming surge in anti-Semitic hate that has been witnessed globally in the past 59 days. McConnell emphasized that even the United States has not been exempt from this rising tide of hate.

McConnell brought attention to a recent incident where an angry mob targeted a Philadelphia restaurant co-owned by an Israeli-born Jew. The protesters demanded a boycott of the establishment and shockingly accused the business and its proprietors of genocide. This incident, however, is not an isolated one. McConnell noted that left-wing activists on social media have been inciting followers to boycott American businesses for supporting Israel's right to exist.

The Senate Republican Leader also highlighted acts of violence and vandalism, including targeting the homes of members of Congress. Anti-Semitic online mobs have been falsely claiming that organizations doing business with Israel are complicit in ethnic cleansing. McConnell further noted that these incidents tend to occur more frequently on elite university campuses.

McConnell referred to a recent open letter penned by a prominent Harvard alumnus, which criticized Harvard's stance on Israel's right to self-defense. He also mentioned a faculty group at Princeton who signed a letter using academic freedom as a shield for students who have propagated terrorist propaganda, while also accusing Israel of 'apartheid'.

American higher education, according to McConnell, has become the epicenter of an alarming wave of hatred towards Jews. However, the Senate Republican Leader did offer some glimmers of hope. He highlighted the efforts of Franciscan University in Ohio, which created an expedited transfer process to welcome students facing anti-Semitic threats at other schools. Additionally, Catholic friars in rural Appalachia have shown eagerness to accept Jewish students who are not being adequately protected at Ivy League institutions.

Unfortunately, McConnell expressed concern about anti-Semitic sentiments infiltrating secondary education as well. He referred to an organization called 'The People's Forum', which organized a massive anti-Israel protest and walk-out at schools in New York City. The group, with direct ties to domestic radical activists and state propagandists in Beijing, is creating toolkits and posters to facilitate similar events at other schools.

While McConnell acknowledged the importance of freedom of speech, he also stressed the need for individuals with a moral compass to condemn those who propagate hate in the strongest possible terms.

In conclusion, McConnell emphasized the right of Israel to exist and the need for American Jews to be free from fear. He highlighted the concerning surge in anti-Semitic hate and called for a united front against this alarming wave of hatred.
