WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) shared his thoughts on President Joe Biden's recent State of the Union Address. McConnell criticized Biden's performance, stating, “Well given his performance, he did the best he could to try to explain a very bad record." McConnell pointed out issues such as "Forty-year high inflation" and "A wide-open southern border," expressing skepticism about Biden's accomplishments beyond "spending a huge amount of money and running up the national debt." McConnell concluded that it was a challenging task for Biden to sell his message, indicating that he was unsuccessful in doing so.
In response to U.S. Senator Katie Britt's (R-AL) Republican Address to the Nation, McConnell commended her, highlighting her unique position as "the youngest Republican woman to ever serve in the Senate." He praised Britt for being "smart, capable," and for effectively addressing the challenges faced by everyday families, such as putting food on the table and affording gasoline. McConnell lauded Britt's performance, stating, "She did a fabulous job."
