McConnell highlighted the importance of resuming work on full-year appropriations, which would involve investing in critical infrastructure, supporting American farmers, and modernizing the military to compete with adversaries like China.
Additionally, McConnell emphasized the need to make progress on supplemental resources. These resources would be directed towards safeguarding America's direct interest in Ukraine's defense, providing aid to communities affected by natural disasters, and restoring security to the southern border and the streets of American cities.
McConnell acknowledged that the nation is closely watching for progress on these priorities. However, he also highlighted the painful reality of historic inflation caused by Washington Democrats. Working families across the country have reported soaring prices as their top concern.
According to recent surveys, only 28% of Americans are satisfied with the state of the economy, while 59% disapprove of the President's policies behind it. McConnell criticized the Democrats' spending, which he claimed has driven up the prices of essential goods and services, such as groceries and housing.
Furthermore, McConnell criticized the President's energy policies, which have caused home heating and gas prices to skyrocket. He also addressed the wave of violent crime that is not only terrorizing citizens but also shutting down businesses on Main Street. Increased violence has made it harder for retail stores to maintain inventory, hire employees, and retain staff.
As a result, 45% of retailers across the country have reduced store operating hours, and 28% have been forced to close stores completely. McConnell attributed these challenges to the thicket of red tape imposed by the Biden Administration, making it increasingly difficult to create and sustain businesses in America.
McConnell referred to these issues as "Bidenomics in action" and highlighted recent headlines indicating that even Democrats are starting to worry about the President's economic decisions. He expressed relief that they are finally recognizing what working Americans have known for almost three years now.
